Former Stoke Potters manager Malcolm Vasey agrees to join fellow National League side Mildenhall Fen Tigers

The new Mildenhall Speedway promotion have turned to the experience of Malcom Vasey, who has agreed to join the Fen Tigers' management team for the 2019 season.

Former Stoke Potters chief Vasey will take on the role of team manager – potentially alongside current boss Phil Kirk – as the club continues to adapt its structure under their new ownership.

Speaking about the appointment, commercial manager Lee Chipchase said: “Malcolm will be a great addition to our management team. He is very experienced, knowledgeable and has a great passion for speedway.

"It is fair to say no one in the sport knows more about the National League than he does and this will be extremely useful as we embark on our tenure at Mildenhall.

Meanwhile, on Kirk's possible involvement, Chipchase added: "Phil is currently taking a break from the sport following a difficult personal year, and we will await his decision when he is ready in the New Year as to his future role within the club if he does decide to stay with us.

"It may be that he remains on the team management side or joins me on the general management/promotion side of the club. We do hope he will return though as he has considerable knowledge of the way the club runs and it will be a big positive to have him on board moving forward."

In recent days the Fen Tigers have announced five of next season's rider line-up, the most recent of which saw Charlie Brooks and Sam Bebee sign on the dotted line.
