Sarah Greenall sinks hole in one and wins Ladies' Closed Meeting at The Links Golf Club in Newmarket

The Links’ Sarah Greenall continued her positive run of form over recent months by following up her sixth hole in one with victory in the club’s Ladies’ Closed Meeting last week.

Playing on the ninth hole at the Newmarket-based Links course, Greenall sunk the ball in one shot with her 7-iron.

And 24 hours later a gross score of 80 saw Greenall, who last year led Links Ladies to victory in their first national competition, clinch the Jeanette Daly Trophy.

Meanwhile, the Frances Westley Trophy for best nett score was clinched by Di Parr with a total of 72 points, while the Jan Golding Trophy for best nett score over-65 was won by Phoebe Brown (74).

Second in the nett standings was Teresa Locke with a score of 74, followed by Mary Walsh (76) on countback from Barbara Coe (76) in fourth place.

As for the 12-hole Foursomes Stableford competition, the pairing of Di Taylor and Jenni Bradnam saw off the competition with a total of 27 points.

Twenty-two points was enough for Edie Douglas and Barbara Coe to pick up the runners-up prize, with Jane Monk and Karen Cook’s score of 21 seeing them complete the top three.
