Matt Green returns to Mildenhall Town following Histon stint

Following Saturday's disappointing defeat at Gorleston, Mildenhall Town boss Ricky Cornish has responded with the re-signing of Matt Green from Histon.

The midfielder was one of former Mildenhall manager Dean Greygoose’s early signings when he arrived from Kershaw Premier Division side Over Sports back in December 2014.

And he went on to be a key component in the club's most successful ever period – one that delivered a first-ever Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title and back-to-back League Challenge Cups – before he linked up with Histon in the summer of 2018.

Green won the Premier Division again with the Stutes – scoring eight goals from 47 appearances in 2018/19 – but after featuring on 12 occasions for the BetVictor Isthmian League North Division outfit this term, he has opted to return to Recreation Way.

Cornish said: "I am over the moon to have re-signed Matt. He is a proven winner and will provide us with that bit of something we have been missing."

Green is set to be included in the Mildenhall squad for tomorrow night's home Suffolk Premier Cup tie against Brantham Athletic (7.45pm).
