Steve Holder and Alex Batten sign for Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Ely City

Ely City manager Brady Stone has moved to improve his side's recent fortunes with the signing of two new players.

The Robins have gone 10 Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division encounters without a victory, nine of which have ended in defeat.

Much of that poor run is owed to injuries to a number of key players, but Stone has now bolstered his squad with the arrival of Steve Holder and Alex Batten.

Holder is experienced forward who has most recently been playing in the First Division North with Diss Town, while attack-minded Batten has scored nine goals in as many games for Whittlesford United in Kershaw Senior A this term.

Batten has gone straight into the squad for tonight's Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup tie at home against Cambridge United's Development side (7.45pm), while it is hoped Holder will make his debut at home against Long Melford on Saturday (3pm).
