Storm wins for Wallis

Domino Storm gained another notable success after tasting victory in the Betfred Select Stakes at Nottingham on Tuesday, writes Graham Clark.

Overcoming a tricky draw in trap four, last year’s Oaks winner gamely made all to defeat 7-4 favourite Droopys Buick by two lengths and complete a double on the night for Lakenheath handler Mark Wallis, who triumphed in the Select Stakes for first time in his career.

The seven-times champion trainer suffered a frustrating time at Sunderland on Saturday after seeing all three of his runners exit the William Grand Prix in the first round.

Wallis fared only marginally better in the William Hill Classic with only Clondoty Alex making it through to Saturday’s semi-final stage.
