Former Bury Town goalkeeper Nick Pope keeps clean sheet on England debut during Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo




Wicken-raised goalkeeper Nick Pope kept a clean sheet on his full England debut yesterday afternoon.

The 27-year-old Burnley shot stopper, who turned out for Bury Town and the now defunct Team Bury before turning professional with Charlton Athletic in 2011, was handed the number one shirt by manager Gareth Southgate for the final Euro 2020 qualifier in Kosovo, which the Three Lions won 4-0.

It was a second cap for Pope after first featuring for the national side as a second-half substitute during a pre-World Cup friendly against Costa Rica at Leeds United’s Elland Road in 2018.
