New manager pleased with how Newmarket Town Women's squad is coming together

New manager Craig Boneham is pleased with how his Newmarket Town Women’s squad is shaping up.

Boneham has inherited a squad that impressed in their first season in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One, finishing fifth alongside their league cup final triumph.

And as a result of that success, Boneham decided not to make wholesale changes.

“I have been really lucky to inherit a team that is really going places,” he said.

“Shane (Lebbon, former manager) has done a fantastic job with the team and he has so much knowledge about football in the area.

“I was thinking about packing up coaching after a few years at Isleham and maybe even moving back to the men’s game, but this opportunity was too good to turn down.

“Every manager has different ideas but this is a team that has just won a cup so I do not want to rock the boat.

“These girls have really risen their levels and hopefully that continues.”

Newmarket will begin their 2019/20 campaign on Sunday, September 1 with a FA Cup tie away at Netherton United.

* The Newmarket players are looking for some sponsorship for the forthcoming season.
