Positive weekend for Huff
Rob Huff had a positive weekend at the Ningbo International Speedpark in China, picking up three top-10 results in the latest round of the FIA World Touring Car Cup at the weekend.
There had been worrying signs for the Newmarket racer in free practice, with Huff’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR suffering some worrying handling issues.
However, after some overnight work by the Sébastien Loeb Racing’s team of mechanics, Huff was able to qualify ninth for Saturday’s opening race.
From there he managed to make his way through a large number of the field, eventually finishing up in sixth position, while he managed to go one better in the second race to claim fifth spot.
In the final race, Huff crossed the line in sixth position for a second time after being involved in some tough battles.
In total he picked up 31 points over the course of the two days, which was his third best race weekend of the season, leaving him ninth in the standings.
Huff said: “Considering how the weekend started, to come away with 31 points was a very good result.
“The one-lap performance of our car wasn’t great, but the race performance was brilliant.
“We have worked harder this weekend than we have ever worked to really find the speed.
“The speed usually comes quite naturally to us except in Slovakia, and this weekend we have had to look deep into the bucket to get the best result possible.”
The next round of the ongoing 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup takes place at the Wuhan city street circuit this weekend.
