Newmarket club impress at Europeans

Kuk Sool Won of Newmarket are celebrating finishing in fourth position at last month’s European Championships, held at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

The two-day event brought together more than 1000 martial artists from countries all over the world, competing against one another to win at sparring, self defence, forms and weapons.

And those from the Newmarket club did particularly well, just missing out on a top-three finish over the course of the tournament.

Other prestigious awards made to the club were Junior 1st Degree Black Belt, which was received by Benjamin Randall, while Luke Morgan earned the Senior 1st Degree Black Belt.

The duo also collected a grand champion medal for winning the highest amount of points from there competition.

Meanwhile, at the end of the second day event a large demonstration and black belt promotion ceremony took place.

This year the Newmarket club achieved six promotions to 1st degree black belt, with Bailey Cameron, Barney Clark, Danny Clark, John Andrews, Logan Vidalet and Dan Hilsden the recipients.

As for Karen Proud, she was promoted to 2nd Degree black belt.
