Newmarket Rugby Club to open up Greene King IPA Eastern Counties One Shield campaign against Hadleigh

By Sports Newmarket

Newmarket Rugby Club have learned their opponents for Phase Two of the season, which will get under way on February 9, away at Hadleigh.

The Scaltback-based side had a positive first half of the campaign, having finished top of the Eastern Counties League Greene King 1 West standings.

They beat second-placed Cottenham on two occasions, with those results carried over into the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties One Shield, meaning Newmarket will kick off second in the table against teams that finished in the top two of the South and North divisions.

The clash at Hadleigh is followed a week later by the visit of Norwich Union, with Beccles the visitors on March 2.

A trip to Colchester III is next up on March 9, with the reverse fixture against the Essex side scheduled for a fortnight later on March 23.

Back-to-back away matches at Beccles and Norwich Union – on March 30 and April 6 – are next on the agenda, the season coming to an end at home against Hadleigh on April 13.
