Newmarket Town goalkeeper Alex Archer selects his All-Time XI

There will be few goalkeepers within the local non-league game that have more experience than Alex Archer.

Newmarket Town's number one has turned out for a number of well-known clubs in the area, including AFC Sudbury, Bury Town, Needham Market, Haverhill Rovers and St Neots Town.

All of which means the shot stopper has been able to put together a highly competitive All-Time XI in a 4-3-3 formation.

GK: Marcus Garnham (AFC Sudbury)

I haven’t been involved in squads with any other goalkeepers really. But when me and Marcus were involved in a swap deal between Sudbury and Bury we trained together a few times and he’s class.

I've watched him plenty of times and he has never put a foot wrong. He has also been consistent for years.

RB: Ben Robinson (AFC Sudbury & Newmarket Town)

Robbo has got everything you want in a full-back. Good defender, quick, strong, can get up and down, good in the air and has good quality on the ball too.

CB: Taylor Parr (St Neots Town)

Taylor is a classic no-nonsense defender. The kind of centre-half you’d hate to play against as a striker and I think that says it all. Not surprised to see him doing so well.

CB: Joe Robinson (Newmarket Town)

Joe is just pure class. Everything looks so effortless for him in a game. Great defender and very good in possession too.

LB: Jack Wilkinson (Needham Market & AFC Sudbury)

Similar to Robbo – he’s got all the attributes you’d want in a full-back. One of the best around.

CM: Michael Shinn (AFC Sudbury, Haverhill Rovers & Newmarket Town)

Probably three quarters of the games I’ve played in senior football have been alongside Shinny.

Set-piece specialist, wand of a right foot and sees things no-one else does. That should get me a new deal for next season!

CM: Marcus Hunt (Haverhill Rovers)

What a player. Could have had him in at centre-back or central midfield, he’s a proper warrior. The kind of player you want in your team, drives everyone else on.

CM: Tom Wood (St Neots Town)

I need to get some legs around Shinny and Hunty! I’ve known Tom since our youth team days at Peterborough.

Bags of energy, wins his headers and tackles, good on the ball and has a goal in him too.

LF: James Hall (St Neots Town)

He won’t be happy that I’ve stuck him out on the left but he definitely gets in the team.

Always on the move and looking a threat. Seems to have that quality of being in the right place at the right time. His record speaks for itself.

CF: James Baker (AFC Sudbury)

The perfect centre forward for me. Everything that goes in to him sticks, your classic target man. Scored plenty as well!

RF: Jevani Brown (St Neots Town)

Scored 20 in 20 games after signing in January to keep us up. Every time he got the ball he looked like scoring.

Just pure class, no surprise he’s now playing in League 2.
