Lee Woodcock’s superb time trial form continued with an emphatic win in the Newmarket Cycling Club’s 21 mile Ashley BS/36 circuit last week.
An average speed of more than 26 miles per hour saw Woodcock post a winning time of 50 minutes and 33 seconds, with Ely’s Tom Sykes (52.33) his closest challenger in second.
Jon Wilson (52.34) grabbed maximum points in the time trial league with a personal best for the course, while Melanie Paddington (1.03.48) was the first female rider over the line ahead of Bobbie Mach (1.08.55).
New riders are welcome to join the club in their next event, an 8-mile circuit at Ashley next Wednesday (7pm).
Bob Watson represented Newmarket in the Eastern Counties Cycling Association’s 50 mile time trial at the weekend.
The 54-year-old finished 11 minutes behind the winner with a time of 1.54.32.
Watson was also in action alongside fellow members Paul Barnes, Steve Peck, and Jon Wilson at the Lea Valley 10 mile time trial last month.
Barnes (22.53) was the first Newmarket rider to finish, ahead of Wilson (23.09), Watson (23.12) and Peck (24.17).
