Williamsom in stylish comeback

Newmarket Joggers’ Neil Williamson completed his rehabilitation from a broken arm in fine style with a superb run in the undulating Chester Marathon on Sunday.

In perfect running conditions, he finished in three hours and 23 minutes exactly.

Joggers’ veteran Charles Shoolbred overcame a challenging course to record a personal best (pb) in 46mins 30secs in the RAF Honington 10K.

Marcus Gynn journeyed to Norfolk to ‘Chase the Train’ along the Bure Valley Railway towpath. He covered the 8.9 miles in one hour and four minutes.

The Abington 10K proved popular again with Newmarket Joggers on Sunday when there was a sparkling pb for Chris Gay in 36.13.

He was joined in the field of 379 by Svitlana Zinchenko, who came home in 52.06.

Other times: Helen Wass 52.59, Dave Price 54.30, Mary Marsh 56.34.

Belinda Schofield and Clive Purbrook tackled the hilly, mixed terrain of the Wimpole Hall 10-mile race and Half Marathon and were rewarded with times of 1.30.42 and 1.46.33.
