Weekend round-up: Fen Tigers suffer Fours disappointment, while Mildenhall’s title challenge falters

Mildenhall Fen Tigers endured a disappointing meeting in the National League Fours as they finished bottom of their group.

Connor Mountain blew an engine at the start of the second heat, before Jack Kingston suffered a crash in heat five, as the Fen Tigers finished last in Group B with seven points.

In the cricket, Burwell’s East Anglian Premier League clash at Bury St Edumnds was abandoned due to the bad weather.

Graham Hume (2-43) and Alistair Allchin (2-51) had reduced Bury to 96-4 after 19 overs before the match was called off.

In Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division One, Mildenhall’s title hopes were dented after a five-wicket defeat at Witham.

Joe Reed scored 75 as Mildenhall finished on 196-7, with the hosts finishing on 197-5 to end Mildenhall’s four match winning run.

Elsewhere, Worlington’s scheduled match with leaders Sudbury was cancelled, with Exning’s trip to Ipswich in Division Two also falling foul of the weather.

Lakenheath recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season after a 25 run win against Dunmow.
