Mark Wallis has won just about all there is to win in greyhound racing and on Saturday the five-times champion created another historic moment when sending out the first ever winner at Towcester.

The Lakenheath handler, who is now attached to the Northamptonshire track, saw Fairest Royal take the Towcester Inaugural Greyhound Stakes and the £1,000 prize that went with it.

Wallis enjoyed further success on the night when Billys Bullet led home Black Francis in a one-two for the trainer in the opening heat of the Category Two Inaugural Towcester Stayers Stakes over 655 metres.

The dual greyhound Derby winning handler looks to have strong claims at winning his first ever ECC Timber Oaks after both Evanta Evita and Cashen Maureen won their respective semi-finals on Friday to book their place in Wednesday’s final.
