Pearl’s sparkling display

Newmarket Joggers’ Pearl Fay made a sparkling 10K debut at Thorney and came away with a splendid one hour and four minutes and 33 seconds on a wet and windy day on Sunday.

The Oakley 20 mile in Bedford proved a popular venue for Newmarket Joggers with spring marathons on their mind on the same day.

With some hills adding to the tough conditions, Chris Gay led them home in 66nd place in two 2hrs 18mins 54secs.

Marcus Hall ran a cracker in 2.36.56 and was closely followed by Nicky Chapman in 2.39.56.

Nik Chapman has been racing regularly and clocked a useful 2.50.09.

Justin Long is gaining valuable experience and is due a promising marathon, as shown by his time of 2.56.45.

Bee Chapman has overcome a recent cross-country injury and posted 3.15.38, while Isabel Vincente has worked hard towards her marathon plans and came home in 4.04.22.

Newmarket’s Helen Wass has been a revelation since graduating from the 2014 Beginners Group.

Cross country and road races hold no fears and although she was the lone Jogger at the Lode Muddy Marvel five mile cross country event the weekend before last she came home fourth lady in a respectable 43 minutes and 55 seconds.
