Carl Jack Overy is planning to increase his racing schedule next year after winning the National Banger Unlimited World Championship at the weekend.

The Soham-based racer saw off the rest of the competition at Ipswich’s Foxhall Stadium on Saturday, which included West Row’s Gary Madgwick who finished in third place.

“I was drawn out of the hat for my grid position and I drew 41st,” Overy said. “I was a long way back to begin with and it was quite a busy race.

“I didn’t take the lead until three laps to go. I’ve won world finals in races run by different promoters before, but this is the biggest one which I’ve won.

“I haven’t been racing much in the last two or three years as I’ve been supporting my daughter who also races.

“I’ve done a few meetings this year, but after winning this world title I think I will do a bit more racing next year.”
