One-two for Harrison in cap and silver match

Gary Harrison achieved the one-two in Saturday’s Jaegor Farm Lakes cap and silver match.

He bagged 45lb 5oz to come first in the carp section on Peg 10.

He also weighed in with 14lb 13oz of silvers to come second in that section.

Davey Brown, on Peg 4, was second in the carp section, amassing 37lb 8oz. Third spot went to Mark Mayes, on Peg 5, who bagged 36lb 3oz.

Stuart Sellers was the only angler to beat Harrison on the day with 24lb 8oz of silvers from Peg 13, to give him victory in that section.

Third spot went to Victor Gladwell with 11lb 4oz from Peg 2.

n The Macmillan Fishathon at Jeagor Farm Lakes raised £1,448, organisers confirmed this week.

Ian Brindle-Jack told the Journal the event had exceeded all expectations, adding: “For our very first event, this was brilliant and bodes well for next year’s Fishathon at Jeagor Farm Lakes, when we are aiming to double the size of the event.

The next event is at Downham Market in August.

n Mick Hampshire received the river shield from Mildenhall Angling Club - before going on win Sunday’s match with a 10lb 4oz bag.

Hampshire bagged tench and rudd on maggot and pellet to gain victory in the Bussen and Parkin match at Kenny Hill. Joint second were I Howard and W Pottle with 7lb 3ozs (pictured).

n Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery is alive at the moment with fish rising everywhere. Daddies, hawthorns, mayflies and small beetle patterns are all taking fish with several anglers again catching into double figures.
