Peg 13 was far from unlucky for Gary Rimmer given the manner of his victory in Newmarket Angling Club’s open match at Jeagor Farm Lakes on Saturday.
Fishing with six-millimetre expander pellets for much of the match, Rimmer topped the weights at the Holywell Row venue with 60lb 14oz.
Steve Watson (45lb 12oz) was second and John Caulder (37lb 4oz) third.

Fred Schultheiss (47lb) headed the weights at the same venue 24 hours later in an open match. Victor Gladwell (39lb 7oz) was second and Gary Harrison (37lb 3oz) third.
