Gary Hounsome continued to impress in the latest round of the Newmarket Cycling Club’s time trial league.
Hounsome finished the five-mile circuit in Fordham ahead of last year’s runner-up Jon Wilson with a time of 11 minutes and 22 seconds.
Nick Dyer took third place in 11.56, while Andy Sewell had an impressive ride on a standard road bike in 12.19.
Linda Hones showed excellent form in the women’s competition to finish first with a time of 14.26, just a few seconds ahead of Sophie Lee (14.30).
Elsewhere, Newmarket cyclist Bob Watson finished in sixth place in the VTTA 10-mile event at Six Mile Bottom.
Watson completed the race in 20.57, with Ian Day (22.36) making an excellent debut to finish ahead of fellow club member Steve Peck (23.45).
Jason Bouttell did Newmarket proud to land eighth spot in the RTTC National Road Championship, won by Movistar cyclist Alex Dowsett.
The Zak Carr Memorial 25-mile time trial attracted 150 riders on Saturday, with Newmarket’s Matt Smith winning in under 49 minutes. Newmarket cyclists Wilson (54.47), Watson (55.01) and Peck (1.00.26) also completed the course.
