Peg 13 was anything but unlucky for Stuart Harrison in the latest open match from Jeagor Farm Fishery on Saturday.

In a match where the first three were covered by just two pounds, the Lakenheath-based angler took top spot with 38lb 10oz by fishing maggot and pellet on the pole at 10 metres.

Fishing the margins was the chosen tactic for runner-up David Brown, who took 36lb 14oz, with Newmarket Angling Club member Gary Rimmer just an ounce back in third.

n There was no splitting Mick Hampshire and his son Mark with the pair heading the weights in Mildenhall Angling Club’s fourth Autumn Cup match on Sunday.

The duo topped the weights with 8lb nets of roach and tench. Back in third with 6lb 14oz was Peter Bowers.

n Newmarket member John Millard took another victory in the weekly OAP match at Fraser’s Fishery last Tuesday.

Millard, fishing on peg 11, caught small carp constantly on luncheon meat and maggot throughout the match on Mark’s Lake to top the standings with 45lb 0oz.

Second was Norman Frear with 34lb 0oz, and third was Roy Carter 32lb 4oz.

n Headfen Fishery manager Marcus Bailey headed the standings during Newmarket AC’s match at the Cambridgeshire venue held at the end of last month.

Bailey, fishing from peg five, finished the contest with 55lb 0oz.

Runner-up Dave Rodwell failed to break the 50lb barrier after ending with 49lb 6oz, while Newmarket AC member Geoff Arnold took third with 49lb and — more importantly — 17 crucial points towards the club’s in-house competition as to who will fish for them in the Garbolino clubman contest.

n After a large restocking at Blackdyke Trout Fishery, several anglers caught into double figure hauls at the weekend.
