Ely rower Holly Hill proved her pedigree in the first of three British Rowing Team 2015 assessment days, coming eighth overall in the open weight women’s 5k event in Lincolnshire.
The under-23 competitor, who rows for Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club (BC) as well as her seat in the Isle of Ely squad, had a great weekend at Boston Rowing Club, finishing in the top 10 from all age groups amid a field of 48 British hopefuls.
She clocked a time of 20 minutes and 0.80 seconds the weekend before last, with Imperial College BC’s Melanie Wilson finishing with the leading time of 19mins 10.60secs.
Meanwhile, Ely’s Leo Lundgren came 14th in the open men’s 5k, with a time of 17.51.87, just 2.92 seconds off a top-10 spot.
The second GB Rowing Team assessments has been set for December 20, again at Boston.
