Soham Comrades Club are set to welcome one of the biggest names in darts when they host Wayne Mardle for an exhibition next month.
The former professional-turned pundit, nicknamed ‘Hawaii 501’, will visit Soham on Saturday, July 11, two weeks after the club hosts an open darts tournament.
Organiser Peter Cousins is delighted to have booked Mardle for the club’s next exhibition, having had darts legends Eric Bristow and Keith Deller at the Comrades last December.
“Last year Bristow and Deller gave us great entertainment enjoyed by all,” he said. “This year with Wayne Mardle we are sure to be amazed by his darting antics.
“He is simply one of darts’ all-time great entertainers and widely regarded as the best ‘exhibitionist’ in world darts.
“This venture is all about bringing big names and great nights to Soham. Sporting entertainment of this quality is hard to come by, and I’m very pleased to be putting this right at our doorstep.”
Doors open at 6pm with the night starting with the finale of the Soham Darts Open at 7pm before Mardle comes on stage at around 8pm.
The Soham Darts Open tournament takes place on Saturday, June 27 and will see the field whittled down to four players for the exhibition.
A £200 winner’s prize is up for grabs, with the tournament running for the first time in more than a decade.
Entries for the tournament close on Saturday, June 20, and to enter and/or book tickets for the exhibition please call Peter on 07939 498604 or visit www.pcevents.co.uk
