Darling wins Newmarket 10km

Chris Darling’s superb time of 34 minutes and 37 seconds saw him win the Newmarket 10km race on Sunday.

The Cambridge Triathlon Club runner was followed home by a host of Newmarket Joggers, including Robin Clifford who finished eighth in 37.24.

Craig Sargent (40.29) was next to cross the line for the Joggers, with Karine Ferrin (45.08) the second female to finish ahead of Svetlana Zinchenko (55.53), Pearl Fay (61.37) and Jane Smith (64.46).

The Joggers were well-represented at the Junior fun runs which took place before the 10km race.

Harry Taylor won the boys under-8s race, with Grace Wordsworth-Clarke victorious in the girls under-8s category.

Patrick O’Riodan won the boys under-11s race, while Emily Knibbs was the victor in the girls under-11s.

Harry O’Shea was first in the boys under-13s, with Ruby Davis (girls under-13s) and Charlie Davis (girls under-15s) also victorious.

Elsewhere, Neil Williamson led the Joggers home in the Friday Five race at Great Bentley with a time of 33.43.

He was ahead of Neville Clarke (35.54), Brian Munns (36.24) and Jim Withers (40.29) who were also in action.
