The Mildenhall Fen Tigers have issued an apology after their National League meeting with Cradley Heathens on Sunday was called off at short notice.
The cancellation came after a dispute between Fen Tigers promoter Kevin Jolly and his opposite number.
The Heathens had requested to draft in Matt Williamson for Luke Chessell, who despite scoring for Edinburgh 24 hours earlier, claimed that he had no engines.
Jolly took exception to that demand and subsequently postponed the fixture, which has now been branded as a ‘heat of the moment decision’.
“Mildenhall speedway would like to apologise to officials, riders and supporters of both clubs for this afternoons meeting being called off,” read an official statement.
“Following a recent build up of personal and club issues over recent weeks, club promoter Kevin Jolly made a heat of the moment decision this morning that he regretted straight away.
“He immediately made efforts to correct the situation, but his offers were sadly declined.
“He will now be taking a brief rest from the sport but hopes to return for the meeting on Sunday, July 17 when the Isle of Wight are due to visit West Row. No further statement will be made at this time.”
