Clarke leads Joggers home

There was a terrific turn out from the Newmarket Joggers for the scenic off road Cambourne 10K on Sunday.

Neville Clarke led them home in 42 minutes and 40 seconds to finish second male over-60.

Charles and Corrine Shoolbred finished in 48.42 and 48.59 respectively with the latter taking second in the women’s over-55.

There was also little to split Kate and Matt Adams in 48.58 and 48.49.

Kathryn Lawrie ran well in 52.30 and the improving Helen Wass finished in 52.41.

Claire Loos was next in 55.56 with Lisa Winninton in 57.31 was a huge personal best.

Sally Nicholson did well on her 10K debut in one hour and 42 seconds.

Malcolm Osbourn had been injured and returned with a solid 1.02.42.

Debbie Read had been in great form of late and continued with a fine personal best of 1.06.21, while Jenny Osborn ran home in 1.06.55.

n Nik Chapman ran in a very breezy Sandy 10 mile event and came home in 1.14.19.

It was a solid effort as the Newmarket jogger was recovering from a bout of tonsillitis.

n Paul Holley opted for a change of marathon scenery this spring in the Paris Marathon and the elite V45 Newmarket Jogger stormed around the historic French capital in 2.39.49, just 15 seconds short of his pb.

He was also the second British runner home in the event.

n Kevin Connolly and Grainne Ni Bhraonain journeyed to the coast to tackle the Brighton Marathon.

Connolly is a regular ultra distance runner and breezed around the course in 3hrs 17mins, a massive pb of eight minutes, while Ni Bhraonain had a super run in a fabulous time of 3.35.
