Fen Tigers promoter Kevin Jolly is expecting to welcome their biggest crowd of the season for the club’s 40th anniversary meeting this weekend.
Riders from across the country are set to compete at the Mildenhall Stadium for the Palmer Trophy, with former Fen Tigers Joe Jacobs and Jon Armstrong among the latest riders to be added to the line-up.
And ahead of what promises to be a memorable Sunday, promoter Jolly is expecting the competition to be fierce.
“There’s going to be a lot of competition on the track, while we’ll be having a party ourselves off it,” he said. “The riders are coming here wanting to know what the prize money is, so they’ll be putting on a show for us.
“Joe was keen to make an appearance and has always been involved at Mildenhall. It might open up the way for him to come back into speedway.”
Fresh off of his match-winning performance against the Cradley Heathens at the weekend, Tom Bacon has been promoted from reserve rider into the star-studded line-up of competitors.
“Riding like he did on Sunday there was no doubt in my mind to put him in,” Jolly said.
“He’ll be up against some tough riders, but if he performs like he did on Sunday he’ll do well.
“There’s been lots of interest from ex-riders and we’re hoping to have our biggest crowd of the season.”
Gates open at 1.30pm, before a host of former Fen Tigers are presented at 3pm ahead of the meeting starting at 3.30pm.
