Dubai Dewhurst Stakes hero Belardo has been announced as the champion two-year-old of 2014 at the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings at a ceremony in London.
The son of Lope De Vega, who is trained in Newmarket by Roger Varian, was given the mantle on Tuesday with his official rating of 119 a pound superior to the Charlie Appleby-trained Charming Thought, winner of the vision.ae Middle Park Stakes.
Belardo was not the only-trained horse to be recognised for their efforts on the track last year.
The John Gosden-trained Kingman shared the honour of the highest rated three-year-old with Australia and The Grey Gatsby after each were given a mark of 127.
Kingman was not the only horse hailing from Clarehaven Stables to finish top of the tree at the awards with impressive Investec Oaks and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Taghrooda was crowned champion three-year- old filly with a rating of 123.
