Links a step closer to Spain
A team from The Links has moved a step closer to securing a showpiece appearance in Spain after winning in the fifth round of the Annodata UK Golf Club Classic Ladies tournament.
Having negotiated their way past Royal Cromer last time out, The Links were handed home advantage for the encounter against Spalding.
And the Newmarket side made the most of it, running out winners by a comfortable 5-0 margin.
Lynn Lambert got the hosts off to the best possible start, with her positive short game seeing her win through 6 & 5 over Tilly Garfoot.
Karen Cook followed that up by getting the better of Elaine Hancock, before Carol Wigham held her nerve on the 17th to beat Angela Roper.
Naomi Pilmer edged a back and forth encounter against Elizabeth Holbrook, with Sarah Greenall rounding off the match in style.
Greenall found herself two behind at one stage against Matilde Kedzlie, but she rallied with four birdies to rack up her team’s fifth win.
Toft Golf Club from Lincolnshire are The Links’ next opposition, with the winner booking their place in the Grand Final at the Montecastillo Golf & Spa Resort between November 19-23.
