Fen Tigers post two more wins
Wins over Belle Vue Colts and Buxton Hitmen this weekend has strengthened the Mildenhall Fen Tigers' grip on the National League summit.
After holding their nerve to win a last-heat decider away at second-placed Belle Vue on Wednesday, the Fen Tigers showed no mercy on their own patch in Saturday's swift reverse fixture.
The hosts were in control from the off and were 50-28 in front when the meeting was abandoned ahead of heat 14 due to an injury suffered by one of the paramedics in attendance at the Mildenhall Stadium.
Kevin Jolly said: "It was unfortunate that the meeting couldn’t reach it’s natural conclusion but following the injury to one of the paramedics she required extended treatment from her colleagues and of course her welfare was paramount.
"Everyone at the club sends our best wishes and hopefully everyone understands the situation we were in.
"The lads were flying tonight and I thought it was another fine Saturday evening in front of another good crowd.
"It is hard to single out riders after a performance as convincing as this but young Sam (Bebee) was superb tonight, his paid 11 was reward for a performance of speed and no little skill.
"He is listening to the advice given to him, acting on it and the results are there to see, on this form he is a potent weapon for us at reserve."
And the Fen Tigers completed a perfect weekend by winning 58-32 at Buxton 24 hours later, meaning the West Row side collected seven points from the two meetings.
It was yet another dominant display from the Fen Tigers, with Danny Ayres in particularly positive form.
Jolly said: “The lads showed a lot of desire this afternoon.
"The track wasn’t the easiest to start with but they really attacked their racing and were not going to be denied.
"Every rider scored at least a paid win and everyone contributed to a fine team performance.
"Danny was really on fire today, after showing plenty of speed last night, and fully deserved his return and with our top five contributing 50 points between them the result was never in doubt.
"The last five days has seen us really strengthen our position at the top of the table, but we must not ease off and looking at these lads I am no doubt that will not be the case."
