Mildenhall Town Ladies rack up double figures during trip to Cambourne United Women
Mildenhall Town Ladies remain second in the S-Tech Women’s Championship after recording their biggest victory to date on Sunday.
The team, which was formed during the summer, triumphed 12-3 on the road at Cambourne United Women to extend their winning sequence to four straight matches.
Captain Lydia Vince and Katie Hayes both helped themselves to hat-tricks, while Megan Hobson and Ellie Gookey bagged braces.
Further goals from Annalise Brown and Rachel Pearce completed the scoring for Dale Farnham’s side, who had outfield player Lacie Abrey in goal due to an injury to their usual goalkeeper.
Vince said: “Sunday’s game was a display of our progress as a cohesive team.
“Every single member of the squad gives their all and the hard work and positive team ethos we’ve built so far is really showing on the pitch. It was a fantastic team performance and proof of what we are capable of.”
Meanwhile, coach Farnham added: “It was a solid team performance with flair, clinical finishing and a determination to succeed.”
The Ladies, who are seven points adrift of table-topping Cambridge Rangers having played a game more, will return to action on Sunday when they travel to face fourth-placed Eaton Socon Ladies.
Mildenhall currently have a two-point cushion to their hosts, who they beat 4-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
