Jolly wants to leave past behind and look ahead to win
Kevin Jolly is confident that the Mildenhall Fen Tigers have the necessary firepower to inflict a first home defeat of the season over fierce rivals Cradley Heathens in the National League on Monday.
Although the Fen Tigers are without an away win since September 2014, recent defeats on the road in the league to the Kent Kings (46-44), and the Isle of Wight Warriors (45-44) suggest that their turn is near, and one that Jolly feels that with a bit of luck can be addressed at Monmore Green.
“Luke Chessell is going well, as are Max Clegg and Ashley Morris, but they are not unbeatable and when you match up rider for rider we are capable,” said Jolly (pictured right).
“I don’t want to put extra pressure on the boys but I know what I saw at the Isle Of Wight and they all gave me 110 per cent. They are a team of triers.
“It has been a long wait for the riders, supporters and myself for an away win but it will come.
“If we get the rub of the green there then you never know. If we do win it will be a big plus.”
After calling off last month’s clash with the Heathens at West Row over the eligibility of Matt Williamson as a guest, Jolly was handed a £250 suspended fine until the end of the 2017-18 season and the 2013 and 2014 league champions were awarded the meeting by the Speedway Control Board.
Despite recent tensions between both clubs, Jolly is keen to leave the incident in the past, move forward and focus on what he feels are a vital few months for the Suffolk side.
“Whatever went on and whatever happened I was standing up for my club,” the Mildenhall promoter said.
“ I hope people see that side and realise that they have someone at the helm who will not be pushed around.
“It has been a rough few weeks and although the outcome will never leave me we have to let it die and move forward.
“We have got an important couple of months coming up and some fixtures to really get our teeth stuck in to.”
The Fen Tigers return to home action against the Isle of Wight a week on Sunday.
