Interclub success for Newmarket triathletes
Newmarket Cycling and Triathlon Club concluded their TT campaign by winning the Interclub trophy at the expense of two rival outfits.
The last event was hosted at the Bottisham 10-mile course on Sunday, where the final results ensured that NCTC finished ahead of their Team Cambridge and Cambridge Tri Club counterparts.
Further afield, Gemma Irvine travelled to her native Derbyshire to compete in the Carsington Sprint Duathlon.
Irvine finished as the fastest woman at the competition courtesy of her time of one hour and 39 minutes.
Club-mate Pearl Fay ended her season racing in the Haverhill Sprint Plus Triathlon, which she finished in three hours and 18 minutes to clinch second position overall.
Elsewhere, Glenn Fruish achieved a personal best time of 48.28 in the weekend’s Abington 10km.
n Oliver Daykin was the top performer of the 14 Newmarket Joggers that competed in the same Abington 10km race as Fruish.
On the multi terrain track, Daykin’s time of 38 minutes and 30 seconds was enough to see him finish 16th out of field consisting of more than 400 entrants.
There was also an impressive display from Lisa Jennings, who came home for the club in a personal best time of 55.42.
Meanwhile, Hannah Pollard travelled to Chester to represent the club in the Metric Marathon, which is run over a distance of 16.3 miles.
Running past a host of iconic landmarks in the city, Pollard crossed the line in 2.18.53.
