Newmarket Gymnastics club hosts successful competition at The Racing Centre

Head coach Edith Osborn was pleased with the standard on show at Newmarket Gymnastic Club’s internal competition on Saturday.

Around 150 of the club’s members – with ages ranging from six to 16 – competed at the event, which was held at The Racing Centre on Fred Archer Way.

Osborn, who has coached at the club since 2006, said: “I was really pleased with the performances, and in particular the performance levels of the older age group from 10 and upwards.

“Up until then they are still trying to hone their skills and it is more about practice.

“It was good to see them in competition. We are a recreational club so we do not compete against other clubs in the county.

“One day it would be good to do that but you have to have enough people wanting to do it.”

The club, which trains on Wednesdays and Saturdays, has a short waiting list.
