Goldie Sayers’ Olympic hopes dented
Goldie Sayers may miss out on a place in the Team GB squad for the upcoming Rio Olympics after she failed to reach the final of the European Championships this afternoon.
Having lost her British crown last month, Newmarket javelin thrower Sayers went into the ongoing event in Amsterdam in search of the 62m qualifying distance.
However, the 33-year-old could only muster attempts of 52.60m and 53.56m, before failing with her third effort and exiting the competition in round one.
It means that Sayers is in real danger of losing out on a fourth appearance at an Olympics Games, having featured at the three previous editions in Athens, Beijing and London.
