Gallop hits 83 as Worlington secure fourth win in a row

Worlington II made it four straight wins in Division Six following a comfortable victory at home to strugglers Ipswich III.

The visitors batted first and closed on 163-8, with Nigel Peartree remaining unbeaten on 54 at the end of the Ipswich innings.

Once the fragile Ipswich lower order was exposed, Worlington’s Terry Small (5-39) reaped the rewards with his slow bowling.

Freddy Gallagher (2-38) was also among the wickets as the visitors set a target of 164 for Worlington to continue their winning run.

The hosts lost three wickets in the run chase, however Adam Gallop’s unbeaten knock of 83 brought up victory inside 30 overs.

After opener Thomas Baugh fell for 10, Bruno How and Gallop put on a second wicket partnership of 89, before the former departed for 36 runs.

Ian Roberts was dismissed for 16 before Gallop and Jonno Peachey got Worlington over the line.

n In Hunts County Bats Suffolk League Division Four, Worlington Academy fell to an eight wicket defeat away at Stowupland.

Worlington batted first and were held to 133-6, with Oliver Vaughan top scoring with 36 runs.

Stowupland made light work of the run chase, losing just two wickets as Ollie Walters saw his side home with an undefeated knock of 88.

n Worlington are back in Davidstow National Village Cup action this weekend, as they host Foxton in the last 32 of the competition.

After seeing off Bentley in the Essex and Suffolk Regional Final earlier this month, Worlington take on Cambridgeshire and Norfolk winners Foxton on Sunday (1pm).

The winner of the tie will take on either Dinton or Langleybury in the last 16, and move to within just three wins from a place in the final at Lords in September.
