A goal in each half condemned Soham Town Rangers to a 2-0 defeat at home to Brentwood Town in the Ryman League Division One North on Saturday.

Seven days after being hit for six by Spalding United in the FA Trophy at Julius Martin Lane, the Greens suffered more disappointment on home soil thanks to a first half strike from Sherwin Stanley and a goal 14 minutes from time from Marcus Milner.

Newmarket Town moved up to third in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division with a 1-0 win at FC Clacton, while Ely City made it back-to-back wins in the league after coming from a goal down to beat Gorleston 2-1 at the Unwin Ground.

Mildenhall Town suffered their second successive defeat in the league after going down 3-1 at Brantham Athletic.
