A first half brace from Matt Simpson helped Soham Town Rangers start the new year on a winning note by recording a 2-1 victory over Dereham Town.

After falling behind to a Dan Morphew in the 19th minute the Greens bounced back with a brace from the midfielder.

Despite the visitors enjoying the better opportunities in the second half they failed to find a way past an in form Enol Ordonez in the hosts net, with him producing a string of fine saves to keep the visitors at bay.

The victory for Steve Fallon’s side was their fourth in succession in the Ryman League Division One North and one of which pushes them up to sixth and just a point outside the play-offs.

Rangers will look to extend their winning run when travelling to Redbridge tomorrow. Kick-off 3pm.
