Three new signings featured as Soham Town Rangers ended a two-game losing streak at home to Romford on Saturday afternoon.

Seventeen-year-old goalkeeper Evan Jeckells and the returning Miles Smith started the contest at Julius Martin Lane, while winger Joey Abbs was a late substitute.

The hosting Greens went 2-0 in front thanks to goals from Robbie Mason and Ryan Sharman, but that advantage was soon cancelled out by two quickfire Romford goals.

However, with two minutes remaining, Soham’s lead was restored when Sharman scored from the penalty spot before Dylan Williams made sure of the outcome in stoppage time.

There was not such positive news for Soham on Monday evening, though, as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Aveley.

On Saturday, they travel to Harlow (3pm), before playing host to Dereham Town on Easter Monday (3pm).

n In the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, Newmarket Town won for the first time since late January courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Swaffham Town.

Yet, the Jockeys slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Essex outfit FC Clacton on Tuesday evening.

This Saturday, they host Haverhill Rovers (3pm), followed by a trip to promotion-hunting Godmanchester Rovers on Monday (3pm).

n Ely City, who were 3-0 winners at Debenham LC at the weekend, face Cornard United at home on Saturday (3pm).

Then on Monday, the Robins continue their promotion charge with a trip to March Town United (3pm).
