Samuel Chapman’s first-half strike was enough to help Newmarket Town end Woodbridge Town’s unbeaten run on Sunday.

Despite losing their goalkeeper to injury, Newmarket took an early lead through Chapman, after Jordan Foster cut the ball back for the simplest of finishes.

The hosts were unlucky not to double their advantage when Ally Conway’s effort hit the bar, while the league leaders Woodbridge always looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

However it was Newmarket who came the closest to scoring when Thomas Knowles’ calm finish was chalked off for offside.

n Newmarket Town Girls Under-12s were rewarded for a fine performance away at Bar Hill.

A penalty converted by Jessie Brannen saw Newmarket take a 1-0 lead into the break, before Bar Hill equalised quickly after the restart.

Ellie Desborough’s low finish restored Newmarket’s lead, with Eleanor Mcleish firing home five minutes from time to wrap up the points.

n Isleham Girls Under-12s gained revenge against the only team to have beaten them this season when they took on Histon Blacks.

Isleham made a fine start and were soon three goals ahead courtesy of strikes from Amy McLean (two) and Talia Irvine.

A defensive lapse saw Histon Blacks pull a goal back before Mclean completed her hat-trick to give Isleham a 4-1 lead at half-time.

Isleham went further ahead after the break when Irvine headed home from a corner, while Mclean hit the post from a free-kick moments later.

Irvine completed her hat-trick to give Isleham a 6-1 lead, before an own goal from Histon completed an emphatic 7-1 win.
