Thetford Town midfielder Alex Steed agrees return to Mildenhall Town

Ricky Cornish has added a third new signing to his Mildenhall Town squad after securing the services of midfielder Alex Steed from Thetford Town.

Both defender Casey Phillips (Newmarket Town) and striker Jack Brame (Walsham-le-Willows) have joined up in recent days as the Recreation Way-based side prepares for a return to the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division following last season's relegation.

In Steed they have recruited a player that will be no stranger to the club, having been a part of the Mildenhall side that lifted the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup in 2011 with a 2-0 win over Haverhill Rovers in the final.

More recently Steed has been a part of the set-up at Thetford, for whom he made 22 appearances last term.

Cornish said: "I am delighted to have signed Steedy. He has been at Mildenhall before and was a crowd favourite.

"He is a tough tackling, no-nonsense player with a good range of passing and I cannot wait to get him started."

Steed has also played for the likes of Bury Town, Newmarket Town and Walsham-le-Willows.
