Visiting skipper Joe Tetley lost the toss, with his side being put into bat.

And it ended up being a disastrous outing for the away side, who saw wickets tumble before eventually being bowled out for just 60.

They came up against a bowler in top form, with Great Witchingham’s Andrew Hanby recording figures of 9-28 from his 12.3 overs – a new league best return.

Opener Simon Donald and overseas player Tyron Koen joint top-scored for Burwell & Exning with 16 runs each, while no other batsmen managed to score more than five.

In reply, the hosts took just 14.4 overs to rack up the necessary runs to record the victory.

They lost two wickets along the way – Sam Rippington bowling James Spelman for 22 and Koen trapping Ryan Symonds for 2.

That meant it was left to the combination of Sam Groves (16) and Jonathan Spelman (11) to get their side over the line in comfortable fashion.

The one point gained has seen Burwell & Exning drop down to seventh in the Premier League standings with a return of 221 points from their 15 matches.

Tetley’s side will now look to end their three-game winless sequence when they travel to the side directly below them in the table on Saturday – Vauxhall Mallards (11am).

Koen starred in the reverse fixture back in mid-May, which Burwell & Exning won 85 runs. The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 126 runs with the bat, before going on to take five wickets with the ball in hand.
