Burglars have targeted convenience stores in Burwell and Fordham, making off with thousands of pounds worth of goods.

At about 2.30am on Monday a gang had broken through the Carter Street store's fire escape and stole £5,000 worth of cigarettes.

The break-in was just days after another Co-Op branch was broken into in Burwell.

On Friday alarms on the North Street store were triggered at about 2am with thieves stealing 'a large quantity' of cigarettes.

And a Tesco store in St Ives was also targeted in a similar burglary last week.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said the force believed the incidents are linked, and are now looking for three men in connection with the break-ins.

"Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 54 of May 27 or alternatively report it online," the force spokesman said.
