Detectives are appealing for witnesses and warning residents to be vigilant after an attempted distraction burglary was foiled in Wickhambrook.

The incident took place between 7pm and 7.15pm on Sunday at Coltsfoot Green.

The victim received a knock at the door from a man pretending to be a police officer, but did not open it asking him to come to the window instead to check his identification. The man disappeared. The incident followed a burglary in the village on Friday December 19, between 3.25pm and 5.25pm, at a house in Ashfield Green. The rear doors were forced open and cash and jewellery were stolen from inside.
