Power tools have been stolen overnight from a van parked in Lester Piggott Way, Newmarket.
Police are warning tradesmen to make sure equipment is secure following the theft which happened between 6pm on Friday February 27 and 8am on Saturday February 28.
Thieves got into the van which had been left in a parking area, and stole power tools including a Paslode nail gun, a Stihl petrol gringer, and a Milwauke drill.
Police are advising motorists to keep vehicles locked at all times and to remove property from inside where possible.
If for any reason tools and equipment cannot practically be removed, people are advised to store them in a fixed and secure strongbox inside the vehicle. There are also alarms available for larger toolboxes.
People can also mark tools with their postcode and business name if appropriate, using a forensic marking solution, etching or preferably a combination of both.
Serial numbers should also be recorded and can be entered onto the national property database www.immobilise.com
Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact PC Ben Richardson and the Forest Heath Neighbourhood Response Team on 101 quoting reference NE/15/369, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
