Two teenage girls accused of starting a fire at Exning Primary School have appeared at Ipswich Crown Court.

The girls, aged 16 and 17, and who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with arson at the school in Oxford Street in the early hours of September 4.

Today the girls appeared before Judge Rupert Overbury for a preliminary hearing at which they did not indicate pleas. Judge Overbury told both girls that they would continue to be granted bail until they return to the same court on February 14 for a plea and case management hearing.

The fire at Exning Primary School involved a shed, a classroom, hallway and roof and caused an estimated £200,000 worth of damage.
