Police are appealing for witnesses after a crime spree across Forest Heath

Six cars have been broken into during a night-time crime spree in Red Lodge and Lakenheath.

Between 6pm on Wednesday and midday yesterday vehicles across Forest Heath were entered, with thieves making off with hundreds of pounds of goods and causing thousands in damage.

In Red Lodge five cars were broken into in the same night.

At about 3.15am yesterday police said a male suspect approached a Suzuki in Burdock Road and tried the door but was unable to get in - eyewitnesses have described him as between 5ft7 and 5ft10, bald or with very short hair, and was wearing shorts, trainers and a lightweight jacket.

In Beech Drive, at some point between 11.30pm on Wednesday and 5.30am yesterday an Audi was broken into and a laptop and headphones stolen.

At Larch Way between 5pm on Wednesday and 11.50am yesterday thieves forced their way into a Kia, but stole nothing.

In Reed Lane between 10.30pm on Wednesday and 8.45am yesterday an Audi was broken into but nothing was taken.

And cash and sunglasses were stolen from a Seat at some point between Burdock Road between 6pm on Wednesday and 6.30am yesterday.

In Lakenheath, between 6pm on Wednesday and 8.30am yesterday a mobile phone, cash and bank cards were stolen from a Toyota in Claude Avenue.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: If you think you know the person or persons responsible, or if you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, please contact us on 101, quoting reference 23240/19."

And the force is urging people to lock their car and remove all valuables, no matter whether you park on or off road.
