Officials at charity Racing Welfare have announced the first 10 members of its team to take streets for next year’s Virgin London Marathon.
Featured among the names set to participate in the 26.2 mile race in April next year are several faces who work within the racing industry in Newmarket.
Leading the list of those running for the racing charity from the town is Hamilton Road based trainer Paul D’Arcy.
The Charnwood Stables handler will be joined in the race by Jason Fevell, who is pupil assistant to Fordham Road trainer William Haggas, and qualified veterinarian and Darley employee Sophie Ignarski.
This year’s team, which included Newmarket trainer David Simcock and Six Mile Bottom handler Robert Cowell, raised more than £200,000 for the charity.
In recognition of raising the phenomenal amount the team received the Golden Bond Award for generating the highest cash total from their team of runners.
