Former award winning Newmarket head lad Stuart Messenger was banned from driving for a year after he admitted drink driving.
West Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Bury St Edmunds heard on Tuesday that Messenger, 52, of Nunthorpe, Yorkshire, was stopped in a car park of the Bedford Lodge Hotel on December 4, by police in Bury Road. He admitted to officers he had been drinking and a breath test showed 42 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Messenger told the court he had been unemployed since November 8 when he lost his job with Sir Michael Stoute. He was fined £150, with £85 costs and £20 statutory surcharge.
