Police taser knife wielding man outside Newmarket pub

Police used a taser and PAVA spray after they were called to reports of a man brandishing a knife at the White Lion pub in Newmarket High Street yesterday around 9.30am.

Officers closed the road and after around 20 minutes, the man aged 44, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a Class B or C drug.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre for questioning, where he has been bailed to Tuesday, April 19, pending further enquiries.
